It’s time. Our annual English Premier League preview arrives a month later than usual, but the world’s most popular competition is back with the 2020-21 season beginning this weekend. 

It all begins with Arsenal visiting newly promoted Fulham on Saturday morning, and the action continues with defending champion Liverpool welcoming Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United to Anfield later in the day. You’ll also want to tune in on Sunday as José Mourinho’s Tottenham gets the first glimpse of new Everton signing James Rodríguez at Hotspur Stadium. 

The Premier League said on Thursday that players and match officials will wear a "No Room For Racism" badge on their shirts for the entirety of the 2020-21 season, replacing the "Black Lives Matter" logo that previously appeared on kits.

The "Black Lives Matter" logo appeared on kits for all the games following the COVID-19 break last season and the league said it will support players who 'take a knee' at matches to highlight racial injustice.

Aided by fixture congestion, muscle injuries and domestic cup competitions turned into academy exercises, the 2020-21 season figures to be the year of the 15-year-old. 

On the one hand you’ve got Borussia Dortmund phenom Youssoufa Moukoko — although he won’t be able to play in the Bundesliga until turning 16 on Nov. 20 — and on the other you’ve got Grimsby Town’s Louis Boyd.

On Wednesday it was reported that Christian Pulisic will have the honor of donning the No. 10 jersey for Chelsea next season. Pulisic will trade in his No. 22 jersey and fill the shirt of Willian, who joined Arsenal earlier this summer. Ironically enough, Willian wore the No. 22 for six seasons until he was honored with the iconic number in his final season.

Despite the NWSL doing just about everything in its power to remain relevant during a global pandemic, star players continue to flee for Europe. On Wednesday, it was Tobin Heath and Christen Press who ditched the NWSL for greener pastures in England, signing with Manchester United of the FA Women’s Super League. 

England manager Gareth Southgate said both Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood will play no part in Tuesday's Nations League game in Denmark after breaching COVID-19 protocols in Iceland.

Speaking at a news conference, Southgate said they had both been isolated from the rest of the squad and would travel back from Iceland to Britain separately.

REYKJAVIK — England's Raheem Sterling converted a 90th minute penalty to snatch a 1-0 win away to Iceland in their opening Nations League match on Saturday after the home side themselves missed a spot kick in stoppage time that would have salvaged a draw.

Sterling got the decisive goal from the spot, after a disappointingly drab game, when Sverrir Ingi Ingason was harshly ruled to have handled the England striker's shot.

Sam Mewis made her debut in the FA Women’s Super League, helping the Citizens to a 2-0 win over newly promoted Aston Villa on Saturday at Villa Park. The USWNT midfielder nearly scored 15 seconds into her debut and played the full 90 minutes in the first FA WSL match of the season.
