The life of a goalkeeper is a difficult one. If any other player on the field makes a mistake, they are usually forgiven pretty quickly. Goalkeepers, on the other hand, are expected to be perfect. Even the smallest mistake could ruin a keeper's entire career. Robert Green is a perfect example of this.
A curious reporter decided to take a week’s worth of ESPN transcripts to see just how much the Worldwide Leader talks about certain topics. The results weren’t flattering for soccer fans.
Using data pulled from closed captioning, the most commonly used word on ESPN for a week (ending 7:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday) was, with 58,967 uses … drum roll please … “the.” OK, no one really cares about articles and prepositions. Let’s get to the names:

Every year FIFA Friday — the date on which the latest edition of EA Sports’ mega-franchise is released — is welcomed by joy among the FUT fanatics. Usually, it’s also accompanied by hardcore Career Mode enthusiasts moaning about the lack of updates to their favored mode.

An intoxicated Portsmouth fan was caught on video attempting to fight a police horse after the Pompey side lost to Southampton 4-0 and was knocked out of the Carabao Cup.

Tim Sherwood said something this weekend that really made my blood boil.
The former Tottenham manager turned pundit provided some post-match commentary on Arsenal’s 3-2 comeback victory against Aston Villa on Sunday, and while most of what came out his mouth was typical drivel about “wanting it more” and “grit,” Sherwood had a pretty unique take on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s decision to let Nicolas Pépé take a penalty kick:
On Sunday, the Czech First League had one of its biggest games of the season: the Prague derby between rivals Sparta Prague and Slavia Prague. The match went down at Letná Stadium, home of Sparta, but the visitors — and current league-leaders — Slavia emerged with a 3-0 win.
After Tomáš Souček had given Slavia the lead with a 19th-minute penalty, the game’s pivotal moment arrived in the 55th minute. With Slavia pushing hard to increase its lead, the two-goal cushion finally arrived in bizarre fashion.
The Houston Dash are probably the least popular club in the NWSL. They’re the only team without a USWNT player and they’re seemingly allergic to scoring, with only the dysfunctional Sky Blue having fewer goals.
So maybe they’re on to something with this basketball thing.
The Dash, all but out of the playoff running in NWSL, practiced basketball on Thursday as Houston was smashed by a tropical depression, making outdoor training impossible.
A video of Juventus’ training session Tuesday has taken social media by storm. The clip features a frustrated Gonzalo Higuain lashing out during a game of rondo (monkey in the middle).
