Let’s just get this out of the way: Unless you’re a mom, you have no interest in opening ceremonies. Whether it’s the Olympics, Champions League final or World Cup, most fans just want to get to the action. That said, the 2018 World Cup opening ceremony wasn’t all that bad thanks to one man: Robbie Williams.

Robbie Williams isn’t a singer too many Americans are familiar with. To be honest, the only reason I know him is because his song was the primary anthem for FIFA 2000. 

There are a lot of games at the World Cup, people. There are 64 to be precise. And I’m willing to bet (and really hope) that at some point you’ll have a nice cold brewski in your hands during one of these games. So why not play a World Cup drinking game?

Earlier this week, pop star Ariana Grande announced she was engaged. Immediately everyone on the internet who cares more about the lives of celebrities than their own lives began scouring the internet, searching Google for "Who is Pete Davidson." Or, more accurately, "who is pete davidson," because who has time for proper capitalization?

In 2018, one might say French striker Antoine Griezmann has a lot on his plate. He has been fielding rumors about his future for weeks and is withholding a much-anticipated decision about which club he will take his talents to next season. He’s also one of the focal points of a star-studded France side heading into the World Cup as a tournament favorite. After a significant Euro 2016 performance, he’ll be expected to produce in the Les Bleus attack.

Most of the time when it’s a big player’s birthday their teams and fans will post cool photos of them and a best goals compilation. For example:

It’s been made well aware to soccer and non-soccer folks alike that Orlando husband and wife soccer stars Sydney Leroux and Dom Dwyer have an adorable son named Cassius. When they are not banging in goals for their respective teams and taking ridiculous adorable family pics, these parents are known to joke around and pull pranks on each other.

The World Cup is just around the corner, and excitement levels are at an all-time high. For the BBC, there will be plenty to talk about, and of course, when it’s World Cup time, you bring out the best analysts you can (unless you're Fox).
