Santos — the club of Pelé and Neymar — relegated for first time in 111 years

Pelé's former club Santos were relegated for the first time in their 111-year history on Wednesday following a 2-1 home loss to Fortaleza in the final round of Brazil's Serie A.

The costal city team were one of three clubs, along with Sao Paulo and Flamengo, never to have been relegated from Brazil's top flight but a woeful run of five games without a victory saw them drop to 17th in the standings with 43 points.

America Mineiro, Coritiba and Goias had already been assured of relegation from the 20-team division.

Watch: Luis Suárez scores hat trick in 19 minutes to complete 4-3 comeback win

The anticipation of Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez joining Inter Miami continues to grow and he gave a preview of what his time in Major League Soccer could look like on Thursday.

With his side Gremio trailing Brazilian Série A league leaders Botafogo 3-1, Suárez netted a hat trick in the span of 19 minutes to pull his side ahead.

Botafogo sit top of the table with 59 points and Palmeiras sit second-place hot on their heels. The top of the table matchup saw Textor’s side take a 3-0 lead after 36 minutes.

Soon-to-be Real Madrid star Endrick got one back for Palmeiras in the 49th minute, but it looked like Botafogo would hold on for a win.

It should be criminal to disallow this incredibly clever golazo in Brazil

Brazilian phenom Marcos Leonardo scored a ridiculous goal for his club Santos on Friday that was SportsCenter Top 10 material. Unfortunately for him the goal was called back for offside.

With Santos leading Coritiba FC late in the second half, Leonardo put on a show as he smoothly controlled the ball with his chest, dinked it over an opponent and smashed it by the goalkeeper.

What a move from the 20-year-old.

Luis Suárez was enraged this past weekend when an opponent threw his shoe off the field during Gremio’s 3-0 victory vs. Cruzeiro on Sunday.

With Gremio leading 1-0 courtesy of a Suárez goal, they were about to go into halftime with the lead. Before the stoppage time was up, an incident took place involving the Uruguayan and Cruzeiro’s Marlon.

After not getting a call he wanted, Suárez sat near the sideline with one shoe off complaining. Marlon wasn’t having it and decided to play some mind games and toss Suárez’s shoe.

This bicycle kick isn’t from a video game, this was a real goal scored in Brazil

The honor for scoring the best goal of the year in the world in 2023, the Puskás award, has a new heavyweight contender.

During a U-20 Copa do Brasil game between Internacional and Gremio there was a goal that brought the house down and spread like wildfire on the internet.

With Gremio leading 1-0 late in the game, Internacional’s Lucca attempted one of the most audacious efforts imaginable. After chipping the ball over a defender, he pulled off an incredible scissor kick.

Cruzeiro player misses penalty, fights teammate to retake it and then misses again

It's not weird to see two teammates discussing who'll take a penalty despite coaches having a pecking order. However, it's not common to witness scenes like the one starring Cruzeiro players Bruno Rodrigues and Henrique Dourado that ended up with the taker missing from the spot not once, but twice on Wednesday night.
