Derby County Dumps Coaching Staff, Potentially Paving Way For Wayne Rooney

Derby County have parted ways with manager Phillip Cocu after a disappointing start to the season, the Championship (second-tier) club said on Saturday.

Former Dutch international Cocu took charge of Derby last year following the departure of Frank Lampard and guided the club to a 10th-place finish.

But Derby have won just once in 11 Championship games this season and sit bottom of the table with six points.

FYI: Wayne Rooney Is Still Scoring Bangers In Squeaky Bum Time

In many respects, Wayne Rooney has been written off by football fans and media alike. The former England star left Manchester United three years ago and even spent a couple seasons in MLS, so it might seem like he’s a faded has-been.

But don’t forget, at 34 Rooney is younger than Cristiano Ronaldo, who many still hold as the best pure striker in the world right now (sorry Lewa). He’s a month younger than Luka Modric, who won the Ballon d’Or two years ago. And Rooney can still provide moments of magic like few in the world can even dream of.

Rooney Makes UCL Final Prediction And Picks Former Teammate As Potential Match-Winner

Former England captain Wayne Rooney believes Paris Saint-Germain has the speed and skill to exploit Bayern Munich's high defensive line in Sunday's Champions League final and punish them in a way Lyon could not.

Lyon forwards Memphis Depay and Karl Toko Ekambi missed gilt-edged opportunities in the opening 16 minutes of a 3-0 defeat to Bayern in the semifinal on Wednesday and Rooney has warned that PSG's front three of Neymar, Kylian Mbappé and Ángel Di María will not be so wasteful.

The Most Stunning Soccer Player Mugshots

We all make mistakes — some more so than others... Most of our mistakes are something our buddies never let us live down, but some of us have our mistakes immortalized in the form of a mugshot. Here are some of the best mugshots we could find.

Keep in mind, there have been plenty more players arrested and for worse charges. There have also been players that have flown under the radar and escaped arrest . . . either way, these are the best.

Wayne Rooney Predicts The Champions League Winner

Manchester City struggles to prevent the best teams from scoring against them and their central defenders could be targeted in Friday's Champions League clash against Spanish champions Real Madrid, former England skipper Wayne Rooney said.

Pep Guardiola's City leads Real after they won the away leg of their last-16 tie 2-1 in March, before Europe's elite club competition was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

How Wayne Rooney's Late-Career Revival Has Transformed Derby County

Wayne Rooney's move to MLS was declared a farewell tour, a career death sentence for a 30-something ex-Premier League star. After moderate success during his single season with Everton, Rooney was seen as a shell of his former self when he left his boyhood club for D.C. United in 2018.

Despite this criticism, Rooney flourished in the U.S., notching 23 goals in 48 games and leaving a highlight real in his wake.

Wayne Rooney Sees Massive MLS Potential But Wants Salary Cap Abolished

Major League Soccer (MLS) must remove caps on salaries if it is to fulfill its potential and compete with Europe's top leagues, former England captain Wayne Rooney has said.

The salary cap was introduced to help level the playing field by preventing teams from spending big on players. It has worked to an extent, with 10 different teams crowned MLS Cup champions over the last 13 seasons.

Wayne Rooney Blasts Government For Treating Footballers ‘Like Guinea Pigs’

Wayne Rooney has criticized England's football authorities over how long they took to suspend matches in the country amid the coronavirus outbreak, saying it felt like players were being treated like "guinea pigs.”

The Premier League, English Football League, Women's Super League and men and women's FA Cup competitions were suspended on Friday following an emergency meeting sparked by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta testing positive for the virus a day earlier.

Wayne Rooney Strokes Gorgeous Free Kick Goal Against Stoke

Wayne Rooney has found his shooting boots less than a month into his stint as Derby County player-coach.

Beautiful Wayne Rooney Pass Sets Up Goal In His Derby County Player-Coach Debut

Wayne Rooney is back on the pitch in England and he’s already making an impact with new club Derby County.

The former Manchester United striker left MLS side D.C. United at the end of the 2019 season to become a player-coach for the English League Championship club. He’s been training with the team and coaching under head coach Phillip Cocu, but wasn’t eligible to play until the opening of the English January transfer window.
