6 clubs, 5 cities, 9 games: Premier League Summer Series headed to USA in July

It's not every summer you get the chance to see your favorite Premier League club stateside, but an unprecedented number of teams from England's top flight are now planning a preseason invasion before the 2023-24 campaign begins on August 12.

The latest announcement is the unveiling of the Premier League Summer Series USA 2023 schedule, stadiums, clubs and locations. Beginning July 22, six squads will contest nine matches in five cities over the space of nine days.

2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup stadiums revealed, including 4 new venues

With the countdown to the 2026 World Cup now underway, this summer's Gold Cup — now just 75 days away — takes on an added significance with CONCACAF rivals the United States, Mexico and Canada all aiming for regional supremacy. 

The Gold Cup begins on June 24 and ends with the final on July 16 at SoFi Stadium in California. On Monday, CONCACAF announced the 14 other venues that'll host the 16 teams attempting to claim the region's crown (including invited guest Qatar).

Manchester United to play Wrexham in San Diego as part of U.S. summer tour

Manchester United will face non-league Wrexham AFC in San Diego as a part of the club's already announced summer tour to the United States, the Premier League club said on Monday.

Fifth-tier National League side Wrexham have became famous after Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the club in 2020 with the efforts of the owners being tracked by a documentary series called Welcome to Wrexham.

Argentina now trains at the renamed ‘Lionel Andrés Messi’ facility in Buenos Aires

The Argentina national team's training facility has been renamed after talismanic captain Lionel Messi in recognition of his World Cup heroics and star-studded career, the country's football association (AFA) said on Saturday.

The Casa de Ezeiza in Buenos Aires, which houses the national team set-up, will now be known as Lionel Andrés Messi "in tribute to the best player in the world," AFA president Claudio Tapia wrote on Twitter.

"Welcome to the world champion's house," Tapia said at the unveiling ceremony attended by current and former Argentina players.

Both coaches rage at conditions of snow game between Minnesota and NY Red Bulls

For the third time in seven seasons, Minnesota United's home opener was played in snow. With kick-off less than 20 weeks away (135 days) and Wednesday serving as the global celebration of International Women's Day, FIFA marked the occasion by unveiling the official poster for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The main poster is accompanied by one for each of the nine host cities, "highlighting the iconic and historical landmarks, wildlife and vibrant cultures that are unique to each."

Indianapolis and Hawaii plan on constructing new stadiums that could host U.S. Soccer matches

U.S. Soccer could have two new venues to call home in the coming years as Indianapolis and Hawaii are preparing to construct new stadiums. 

In Indianapolis the $1 billion Eleven Park is set to break ground in May 2023 which will include a 20,000-seat soccer stadium for USL Championship side Indy Eleven. There are also ambitions to bring a Major League Soccer team to the city.
