3 Nations Primed For Devastatingly Poor World Cups

Since the turn of the 21st century, it’s happened without fail: every World Cup, three nations that began the tournament ranked in FIFA’s top 20 have been unceremoniously dumped from the competition at the group stage. In fact, in two of the four World Cups this century, three of the world’s top 10 ranked sides have capitulated before the knockout rounds.

Here’s a rundown of the three highest ranked sides to fall at the first hurdle in the last four tournaments:

MLS Players Vote Giovani Dos Santos Most Overrated Player In The League

Giovani dos Santos will not be excited to learn that his fellow Major League Soccer players think he's the most overrated player in the league.

In an anonymous survey conducted by ESPN, 11 percent of MLS players surveyed said they thought the LA Galaxy forward was the most overrated player in the league. Also voted to be overrated were Michael Bradley, Jozy Altidore, Gyasi Zardes, Paul Arriola, Benny Feilhaber and Tim Howard. Discerning readers will notice that those are, with the exception of dos Santos, who plays for Mexico, all United States internationals.

Watch Miguel Layún Score His First Goal For Sevilla

Miguel Layún scored his first goal for Sevilla in his team's defeat against Leganés.

Questioned about his performances in recent weeks, Layún is finally showing signs of adaptation and getting back in form.

The Mexican international arrived in Sevilla a few months ago after he was transferred from Porto.

In Portugal, Layún had some excellent moments. For instance, he became one of Europe's players with most assists in 2016.

The Legendary Panini Company Predicts Mexico’s World Cup Roster

As a little kid, I would feverishly collect Panini World Cup sticker albums every four years. The World Cup rush was even further intensified as everyone at school was collecting the stickers. Of course, all kids specially valued their national team stamps above anything else.

There was nothing a Mexican boy or girl would hold dearest to his or her heart than a Cuauhtemoc Blanco sticker.

Giovani Dos Santos Is Playing Himself Off Mexico’s World Cup Squad

With 102 appearances, 18 goals and as a veteran of two World Cups, history is on Giovani dos Santos’ side. However, his play on the field over the last year and a half makes his inclusion in Mexico’s 2018 World Cup squad, by Juan Carlos Osorio’s own stated standards, a real doubt.

When Dos Santos arrived in MLS in 2016, his initial return of 14 goals, 12 assists and a place in the MLS Best XI seemed to fully justify a Designated Player salary of $5.5 million per year.

The Mexico Adidas 2018 FIFA World Cup Away Jersey Has Been Leaked

The latest images of Mexico’s Adidas away jersey for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia have surfaced, and it looks as though El Tri will be fittingly representing their nickname when wearing their away strips.

The design features a bold horizontal chest stripe showcasing the flag of Mexico tricolors of green, white and red, as well as green Adidas stripes on the shoulders. The back of the shirt collar, like the home design, features a “soy méxico” message.

You Can Finally Watch Chucky Score For PSV Legally In The U.S.

Hirving "Chucky" Lozano has been tearing up the Eredivisie all season. The Mexican international is the league’s leading scorer and has helped PSV Eindhoven maintain its spot at the top of the league table. But this season there has been no legal Eredivisie U.S. streaming service — until now.

Complete U.S. World Cup TV Schedule And Streaming

As the World Cup gets closer and closer, it’s never too early to prepare for the spectacle on television. The World Cup TV schedule has been released for the United States and we’ve listed what channels each match will appear on when the tournament begins on June 14.

The English-language World Cup TV schedule was made by Fox, which will be showing matches on its over-the-air FOX network as well as FS1. Fox has opted to not use FS2 for any matches, though that’s subject to change for simultaneous matches at the end of group play.

Hector Herrera Drops A Filthy Dime, Like Sitting In Your Car Cup Holder For Years Filthy

Hector Herrera went the full 90 in Porto’s comprehensive 4-0 away victory over sixth-place Chaves on Sunday, registering an assist on the final goal scored by Sergio Oliveira.

It was Herrera’s third assist of the campaign for the league leaders, who’ve opened up a two-point gap on both Benfica and Sporting while maintaining a game in hand.

While things are going well for the 27-year-old midfielder and his club in Portugal’s Primeira Liga, they now must prepare to host English power Liverpool in Champions League Round of 16 action on Wednesday.

Mexico International Charlyn Corral Rips Golazo, Continues To Dominate In Spain

Make it 16 goals from 18 games for Mexico international Charlyn Corral in this season’s Primera Division (the Spanish women’s top flight). The 26-year-old native of Acolman, Mexico, has been Levante’s top scorer the previous two seasons, and she’s currently leading the division after adding another against Sevilla on Saturday.

Did she mean it? Who knows, it’s still a long-range crack that’s probably the best scored in match week 19.
