Insane Time-Wasting In Portugal’s Top Tier Is Soundtracked By R.E.M.’s ‘Everybody Hurts’

After losing 2-0 to Santa Clara in their Primeira Liga opener, the pressure was on Marítimo to secure a result against Tondela on Saturday.

Things started off well enough with Rodrigo Pinho finishing from close range in the 34th minute to open the scoring for Marítimo, but things turned sour when defender Fábio China was handed a straight red for the denial of a goal-scoring opportunity in the 41st minute.

Five Players’ Digestive/Urinary Systems That Shamelessly Decided Game Time Was Bathroom Time

Eric Dier Exits Pitch Mid-Match To Drop A Deuce While José Mourinho Chases After Him

An urgent trip to the bathroom for Tottenham's Eric Dier led to the surreal sight of the defender running off the pitch during Tuesday's League Cup match against Chelsea — with coach Jose Mourinho chasing down the tunnel after him.

Is It Too Early To Just Relegate Fulham From The Premier League?

Let's face it: Fulham is bad this season, like, really bad.

The Cottagers have lost 3-0 to Arsenal, 4-3 to Leeds and 3-0 to Aston Villa. Through three matches, Fulham is on pace to allow 126 goals, which would break the record of 100 goals conceded by Swindon Town in 1993-94.

Fulham has barely even looked competitive this season, allowing goals in the first 10 minutes of all three matches so far.

Creative Turks Manage To Find A Way To Get A Flare On The Field Even Without Fans

One tradition that American sports fans hardly — if ever — utilize is lighting flares for sporting events. Whenever I see fanbases in certain parts of Europe light up their stadiums in a fearsome red glow, I diagnose myself with severe F.O.M.O.

Look at these Galatasaray flares and tell me it wouldn’t be cool to experience this atmosphere at least once.

Abandoned By The Bus After Losing To Rival, Portuguese Team Has To Walk Home

Third tier team Lusitânia Lourosa left the stadium on foot following a Portuguese Cup defeat after the club allegedly sent the team bus away, an incident described by the footballers' union on Monday as "lamentable."

Lourosa lost their first round tie 1-0 to local rivals São João de Ver on Sunday and videos on Twitter showed the squad walking back to their training ground, over three miles away.

Oxford United’s Team Bus Wouldn’t Start Because Anti-Covid-19 Spray Triggered Onboard Breathalyzer

English third-tier side Oxford United had to hire taxis or jump into their own cars to get to their match on Saturday after their team bus was brought to a halt by an alcohol-based anti-COVID-19 spray.

Head coach Karl Robinson said the spray triggered an on-board breathalyser used to detect alcohol on the driver's breath and stalled the bus for several hours.

That left the team stranded at their hotel, around a half-hour drive from the stadium of opponents Accrington Stanley.
