Chelsea manager Frank Lampard says starting the new Premier League season on Sept. 12 is too early and his players run the risk of sustaining injuries given the short turnaround between campaigns.

Chelsea trail Bayern Munich 3-0 heading into the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Saturday and even if they fail to overcome the deficit Lampard's side will have little over a month to recover before the new season begins.

Arsenal extended its record to 14 FA Cup titles with a 2-1 win over Chelsea, one overshadowed by a startling number of injuries to the men in Blue, namely Christian Pulisic.

Christian Pulisic had a great start to the FA Cup final against Arsenal on Saturday, scoring in the fifth minute. He nearly had an epic ending, albeit a painful one. Sadly, it all ended prematurely.

Chelsea’s march toward Champions League football next season took a stumble with a 3-0 defeat to Sheffield United, which improved its own chances of playing in Europe in the fall. In doing so, the Blades equaled one of the most remarkable records in Premier League history.
