Zlatan Promises Massive Minnesota Crowd A Show, Promptly Delivers

Minnesota United drew a record crowd for its final home match at TCF Bank Stadium on Sunday, and although the 50,000+ in attendance weren’t just there to watch Zlatan Ibrahimovic play (although that’s what Zlatan would have you believe), the big Swede delivered during a rare appearance on turf — he scored the first goal in the 30th minute and delivered an inch-perfect assist for the Galaxy’s third in the 3-1 win.

Also, with Portland defeating Real Salt Lake 3-0 at Providence Park, the Galaxy only trail RSL by one point in the race for the West’s sixth and final playoff spot. What’s more, RSL has completed its season, meaning that a victory over the Houston Dynamo next Sunday would send Zlatan and company into the 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs.

The Galaxy took the lead in the 30th minute of the match after Zlatan got on the end of a Rolf Feltscher cross.

Ola Kamara’s scored the Galaxy’s second in the 50th minute, and then Romain Alessandrini made it three only one minute later thanks to a brilliant Ibrahimovic assist.

Angelo Rodriguez pulled one back for MNUFC in the 53rd, but the club’s losing streak hit three with the same questions again being asked of a porous defense.
