No Young Player Had A More Impressive Goal Scoring Campaign Than Paulo Dybala

Paulo Dybala lit Serie A on fire this year. The young Argentine was purchased for €32 million, and those who had kept tabs on him wondered if that transfer fee would end up being laughed at in the years to come, and for all the right reasons.

Simply put, Dybala is incredibly talented; another short forward the class of which Argentina has made its name producing. Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguero, Ezequiel Lavezzi, and of course Lionel Messi have made their mark on the best leagues in the world, and Dybala seems to be destined to do the same.

Dybala scored 19 goals in 34 Serie A matches in his first year with Juventus. Some of his strikes were goal poachings or the result of calamitous defending, but many of them were breathtaking displays of skill.

Here are almost all of the goals Dybala scored for Juventus in 2015/16:

Missing, among others, is his strike against Bayern Munich, but the one omission that truly feels criminal is his volley against Lazio. Goals rarely come any better:

I could wax on about how he has the right character to turn into a world star, because he does appear to have that, but the point we all need to internalize right now is that Dybala is only 22 and is already scoring more league goals than Javier Hernandez (27 years old), Carlos Bacca (29), and Kevin Gameiro (29) while playing with the kind of flair that only those with true class can.

Dybala had the most impressive domestic goal scoring campaign of any young player in Europe’s top 5 leagues. Harry Kane (who is also 22) might have scored more, but he wasn’t playing in his debut season for a new team. Dybala outscored every other player his age or younger, and he did so in breathtaking fashion.
