Leicester City Are 2015/16 Premier League Champions

LEICESTER CITY HAVE WON THE PREMIER LEAGUE. With a seven-point lead over Spurs and only two games left to play, Leicester City’s 77 points have secured them the title of 2015/16 Premier League champions.

Leicester drew against Manchester United over the weekend, and needed Tottenham Hotspur to draw or lose to Chelsea today in order to clinch the title. While most of the team watched from Leicester Ciry striker Jamie Vardy’s house, Eden Hazard scored late equalizer for Chelsea to make it 2-2 vs. Tottenham Hotspur and give Leicester the result they needed to be crowned champions.

Hazard’s goal that secured the title for Leicester was a beautiful one: he linked up with Diego Costa and curled an audacious shot into the top corner of Tottenham’s net.

Leicester City were in danger of being relegated last season, but managed to stay in the Premier League courtesy of a late season winning streak. As unpredictably as that streak was, nothing could have prepared the world for this season.

At 5000-1, the going odds for Leicester to win the Premier League at the beginning of the season were equal to that of Elvis being found a live. No one in their right minds could have said it would happen, yet it has. It truly is one of the greatest underdog stories in sports history.

Joy, unbridled joy for the world is what I feel right now. Yes, I am totally a bandwagon fan, but when a story like Leicester’s comes along, when a team goes from dead last to winning the title within the space of a little over a year, when that team has the epitome of old-man charm as it’s manager, when it has slogans like “Chat s*** get banged,” “Dilly ding, dolly dong,” and "Vardy Party” — AND THEN WHEN JAMIE VARDY THROWS A VARDY PARTY — that doesn’t matter, this is some universal, manifest destiny level of humanity that’s blowing through the world of soccer and it’s f***ing beautiful.
