After Beating Maradona’s Dorados, Querétaro Players Invade Opponent’s Bus For Pics

Querétaro survived a late comeback attempt from Dorados de Sinaloa to advance 2-1 in the Copa MX Round of 16 on Wednesday at La Corregidora. But Los Albiazules players may have been more excited about meeting the Dorados coach than the win itself.

Who could blame them? The club is coached by Diego Maradona, who once won the World Cup in Mexico. After the match, Querétaro players invaded the Dorados team bus in search of photos with the Argentine legend.

Win or lose, everyone wants to be seen with Maradona.

Of course, it wasn’t just the Querètaro players. Plenty of local kids wanted their pictures taken with el Pibe de Oro

And before the match, Querétaro coach Rafael Puente made sure to pay his respects to San Diego.

The match itself didn’t go all too well for Maradona and Dorados. After he started his managerial stint with a 4-1 win over Cafetaleros, Maradona suffered his second straight defeat.

Brazilian Camilo Sanvezzo secured Querétaro’s passage into the next round with a brace within 17 minutes and Dorados couldn’t find the score sheet until Fernando Arce connected in the 89th minute. Camilo’s second was a stellar free kick.

American Jonathan Suárez was an unused substitute in the match for Querétaro.
