Alex Ferguson Thanks Fans For Support After Successful Brain Surgery

Sir Alex Ferguson, the main reason Manchester United earned the moniker the "Pride of England," spoke publicly for the first time since his May 5 trip to the hospital. The 76-year-old Scotsman underwent brain surgery and seems to have recovered just fine.

Fergie’s last public appearance was on April 29 at Old Trafford as he celebrated another former manager, Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger, and presented the Frenchman with a commemorative trophy. Wenger also recently spoke publically about his 22 years at Arsenal after a couple month hiatus.

Fergie and Wenger’s shadows will be a constant testimony to English football’s grandeur. Jose Mourinho and Jürgen Klopp, you’ve encountered a high bar, but we’re counting on you.

The greatest Red Devil to ever live retired in 2013 with 38 trophies under his belt. Ferguson is England’s most successful football manager and has garnered a set of silverware rivaled by few.

Throughout 26 years as Manchester United’s boss, Fergie won 13 EPL titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups and two Champions League titles.

Even Liverpool sent their best wishes to Fergie, who was an infamously unapologetic and fearsome rival of theirs.

"I will be back later in the season to watch the team and, in the meantime, all the best to Jose Mourinho and the players." Ferguson concluded in his video message.
