If you’re a goalie, the only thing worse than giving up an Olimpico goal is giving up a goal that deflects off of you and into the back of the net. Kepa Arrizabalaga got to experience both on this Hakim Ziyech goal vs Chelsea on Tuesday.
After a stupid foul by Chelsea in the corner in the 35th minute, Ziyech curled in a beauty over the stretched arms of Kepa. The ball struck the post before bouncing off Kepa’s nose for an embarrassing own goal, giving Ajax a 3-1 lead at halftime of their Champions League match. Technically it was an own goal, but we think Ziyech deserves credit.

IN THA FACE!
It was not a great first half for Chelsea, outside of one run from Christian Pulisic.
The Stamford Bridge faithful were stunned into a quick silence when Ajax took the lead in the second minute. Quincy Promes struck a free kick on goal and Tammy Abraham’s attempted clearance made the slightest of deflections to send the ball past Kepa.

The lead didn’t last long.
A couple weeks ago, Pulisic provided the assist to help Chelsea beat Ajax 1-0 in Amsterdam. On Tuesday, Pulisic again provided for the Blues.
Moments after the opener, Pulisic bounded into the box before being tripped up by Joël Veltman. Jorginho expertly finished the penalty to equalize in the fourth minute.

Ajax regained the lead in the 20th minute through Promes again, who got his head to a lovely ball from Ziyech.
