Trinity Rodman rocket saves USWNT from lackluster quarterfinal showing vs. Japan

An incredible Trinity Rodman goal vs Japan in extra time of the Olympics quarterfinal saved the United States women’s national team in a poor showing on Saturday.

The USWNT were untouchable in the group stage sweeping Zambia, Germany and Australia while scoring a team record nine goals in the three games.

Saturday was a drastically different performance as head coach Emma Hayes deployed an exhausted side that were off the pace and tremendously struggled to break down Japan’s defense which utilized a brick wall 5-4-1 defense.

USMNT’s best Olympic run in two decades bursts into Moroccan flames with 4-0 thrashing

The United States men’s national team’s 2024 Olympic run came to a disappointing end on Friday in the quarterfinals as Morocco dominated the USA 4-0.

A superior Moroccan side walked over a U.S. team that lacked ideas and composure on the day. The USMNT only really threatened Morocco’s goal once in the 59th minute when Miles Robinson had a great opportunity in the box but hit his shot horribly wide.

USWNT face midfield dilemma vs. Japan with Sam Coffey suspended for quarterfinal

United States women’s national team head coach Emma Hayes started the same players in midfield (Lindsey Horan, Rose Lavelle and Sam Coffey) for all three Olympic group stage games. The USWNT midfield will change for the quarterfinals.

Hayes made a risky decision for the group stage finale against Australia and started Coffey plus Trinity Rodman despite the two players already having a yellow card in the tournament. A second yellow would mean they miss the quarterfinals.

Did Emily Fox snub Korbin Albert? Some USWNT fans believe Fox avoided high-fiving substitute

The United States women’s national team completed a sweep of their Olympic group stage on Wednesday with a 2-1 victory vs. Australia. One moment fans noticed was an Emily Fox Korbin Albert exchange, or lack thereof we should say.

In the 65th minute of the Australia game head coach Emma Hayes made a triple substitution with Trinity Rodman, Rose Lavelle and Fox coming off for Lynn Williams, Casey Krueger and Albert.

Canada pull off the unthinkable and finish second in group despite 6-point deduction

Colombia also booked their spot in the knockouts on Wednesday, along with France, Germany, Japan and Brazil, but Australia missed out.

Korbin Albert scores screamer as USWNT sweep group stage with three victories

USWNT could have easier quarterfinal opponent if they finish second in Olympic group

The United States women’s national team are off to a flying start in the Olympics with a 3-0 victory against Zambia followed by a 4-1 masterclass vs. Germany. The USWNT have already secured a place in the quarterfinals.

As crazy as it sounds, some fans will be hoping they lose their final group stage game to finish second in the group.

Who would ever want that?? We’ll explain.

With only 12 teams competing in the women’s soccer tournament the format is a little odd with the top two teams advancing out of groups along with two third-place teams.
