In the United States, it’s an old adage that “all ballers want to be rappers, and all rappers want to be ballers”. The intersection of music and sports seems to draw professionals to each other’s line of work. In Germany, it appears that all footballers want to be DJs, and all DJs want to be footballers.
Sven Vath is a legend of German techno whose been in the game for over 30 years. He’s a three time DJ Awards winner, and was one of the bigger acts at the Netherland’s Awakenings festival last weekend. During his two hour set on Saturday, June 25, Vath was captured doing what everyone else who’s forced to work during the Euros has done: he streamed the Germany vs. Slovakia game on his phone during his live set.
It’s really an incredible feat of multi-tasking considering Vath is renowned for playing only vinyl on just turntables and mixers when he DJs. Born in Obertshausen, Germany, Vath almost certainly doesn’t regret his actions — only getting caught.
Those goals from Jerome Boateng, Mario Gomez and Julian Draxler were enough to please any crowd.
