July 20, 2019, marks 50 years since man landed on the moon. Space City’s MLS club is celebrating the feat with a sweet Dynamo space patch.
Apollo 11 changed the world when NASA astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins landed on the moon five decades ago. It was a seminal moment in human history, especially when Armstrong and Aldrin set foot on the moon’s surface.
It’s a feat being celebrated around the world this week. Houston, nicknamed Space City because it’s home to the Johnson Space Center (AKA “mission control”), is no different.
The Houston Dynamo recently unveiled a patch the club’s players will wear at their next home match, a Dynamo space patch that will be given away to fans who attend the game.
This is gonna be a blast
On the road this week but we’ll see y’all back at @BBVAStadium next Saturday for Space City Night!— Houston Dynamo (@HoustonDynamo) July 20, 2019
It is, in this Houstonian’s totally unbiased opinion, the coolest patch in the history of soccer (minus that annoying Pepsi logo, because everyone knows Houston is a Dr. Pepper town).
This Dynamo space patch looks like something straight out of Star Trek, and we’re here for it. Some want to make it the official club logo.
can we start a petition for this to be our official logo? (100% serious) https://t.co/Rf1xrFFbCn pic.twitter.com/mjAQXgEpKg

Houston will wear the patch against the Seattle Sounders on July 27, the next MLS home game (not including a Leagues Cup match against Club América on Wednesday). The first 5,000 fans will receive a free Dynamo space patch.
The Dynamo are also selling Apollo 11 anniversary Dynamo scarves, and if you want to be my friend you’ll buy one for me.
As for the night of actual anniversary, the Dynamo will wear this armband.
