A Copa del Rey red card in the preliminary round of the competition has gone somewhat viral after a player punted the ball into an opponent’s face.
During Wednesday’s game between Astur and Promesas EDF, chaos erupted near the sideline that would see two red cards. Two players were battling for the ball as it went out of play and an Astur player shoved an opponent into the wall close to the sideline.
This infuriated a Promesas player who defended his teammate by picking up the ball and blasting it at the shove offender’s cranium. You got to give him some credit for his accuracy.

Understandably the player blasted by the ball was pissed and ran to fight his attacker. Both players would be sent off with red cards.
Not something you see every day.
Astur went on to win the game 2-0 and will advance to the first round of the Copa del Rey. Astur play in the sixth tier of Spain and will now get to face one of the big LaLiga boys with a matchup against Valladolid.
Hopefully no one gets a ball punted into their face in that game.
