Ruben Amorim slams Marcus Rashford: "I'd rather play a goalkeeper coach."

LONDON, Jan 26 (Reuters) - Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim defended his decision to again omit forward Marcus Rashford from his squad for Sunday's 1-0 win over Fulham, insisting he would rather put a goalkeeper coach on the bench than a player not giving their all.

Rashford has not featured for United since mid-December, after he admitted that he was ready for a new challenge in his career, with the England international not in the team's travelling party for Sunday's narrow Premier League victory.

José Mourinho mistakes Lyon staff member as the manager and shakes his hand

A José Mourinho handshake fail after his side’s 0-0 draw vs. Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday went viral. The Fenerbahce boss made a classic error of mistaken identity and shook the wrong person’s hand after the game.

Mourinho followed the tradition of shaking hands with the opposing manager of the final whistle, however, accidentally shook the hand of Lyon’s physio, Abdeljelil Redissi.

Redissi looked a little confused before pointing Mourinho in the right direction toward Lyon’s actual head coach, Pierre Sage.

Watch: Mauricio Pochettino misses U.S. goal while on a suspected emergency bathroom break

United States men’s national team head coach Mauricio Pochettino will be pleased with his team’s 3-0 victory vs. Costa Rica on Wednesday. He might however be disappointed with his digestive system as he missed the USA’s second goal while back in the locker room.

We can’t confirm what he was doing not on the sidelines. Judging from his jogging form going back to the locker room, we have a pretty solid guess as to what was happening.

In the 77th minute Poch was spotted on camera doing a hasty jog to the facilities.

Arsenal hit new low as Mikel Arteta blames the Carabao Cup ball for loss to Newcastle

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta brought out an ancient excuse that we haven’t heard in 15 years for why his players couldn’t hit the target in their 2-0 loss to Newcastle on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup.

Arteta said the game balls were different.

The last time someone tried to blame the ball for their team’s failures was the 2010 World Cup with the infamous Jabulani ball. Arsenal’s boss now claims there are key differences between the Carabao Cup balls and Premier League balls.

Mexico’s iconic head coach from 2014 World Cup Miguel Herrera to lead Costa Rica

Former Mexico coach Miguel Herrera has been appointed as Costa Rica's head coach ahead of the 2026 World Cup, the country's soccer federation (FCRF) said in a statement.

The 56-year-old Herrera, a former defender who coached Mexico to the last 16 at the 2014 World Cup and a CONCACAF Gold Cup title in 2015, replaced Gustavo Alfaro who left in August to coach Paraguay.

"It has arisen in the recovery process and he is not ready to play tomorrow, not even for the bench."

Pep Guardiola’s City suffer shocking NINTH defeat in last 12 games

BIRMINGHAM — Aston Villa inflicted more misery on shell-shocked Manchester City on Saturday, defeating them 2-1 in the Premier League with goals from Colombian forward Jhon Duran and former City forward Morgan Rogers.

Villa rose above City into fifth place in the Premier League table, and the title holders dropped provisionally to sixth with their ninth loss in 12 games across all competitions.

Pep Guardiola's team could fall to as low as ninth by the end of the weekend and have just one victory to show from that 12-game stretch.
