Former U.S. women’s national team forward, Sydney Leroux, scored what is undoubtedly a strong contender for best goal of the NWSL season.
Sydney Leroux goal vs. Angel City FC
In the 56th minute and with Angel City FC trailing 1-0 against Utah Royals FC at home on Sunday, a series of rebounds at the edge of the 18-yard box, received by Leroux with her back turned on goal, ended in what of the most aesthetically-pleasing finishes you’ll see this year.
The 34-year-old American took a touch and hit a perfectly-placed volley to put the game level. Fans absolutely erupted at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.

Vintage Leroux.
This is the forward’s seventh goal of the season in 24 appearances for Angel City this season — her highest tally since 2021 (8).
Leroux’s good form comes after picking up a series of serious ankle and ACL injuries in past years, with the World Cup champion now looking to have fully recovered both mentally and physically from her fitness issues.
On a serious note I am so thankful to be a part of @weareangelcity and can’t wait to give back to the team, our amazing fans and this city we get to call home. pic.twitter.com/wpzJzibvIc
