Teenage Sensation Mal Pugh Strikes Following A Blistering Run From Midfield

After falling to a Megan Rapinoe-inspired Seattle Reign FC in Week 1, the Washington Spirit recorded a 2-0 win over the Orlando Pride in their home opener at Maryland SoccerPlex on Saturday.

Nearly 5,000 were on hand to watch 19-year-old USWNT forward Mallory Pugh open the scoring in the 80th minute with a blistering run that started just inside the halfway line. Pugh finished the move by nutmegging international compatriot Ashlyn Harris in goal.

The Record For The Most Goals In A Single Game Will Never, Ever Be Broken

Goals are the ecstasy of football, so much so that it's hard to make a case defending 0-0 matches, even when they sometimes prove to be quite entertaining.

There's just something missing in the beautiful game when the ball does not kiss the back of the net. An abundance of goals is always welcome by fans and the press.

Of course, goals are nice, except when your favorite team concedes them.

We’re Still Trying To Wrap Our Heads Around The 18 Most Oddly Boring Instagram Posts From Famous Footballers

Whether it’s scenic selfies, adorable dog pics or extremely manicured photos of food, Instagram is the place for people to show off how much better their life is than everyone else’s. Barcelona Ousted From Women’s Champions League By Controversial Goal

The Women's Champions League has a ways to go to catch up to the men’s competition in terms of stature, but the quarterfinal pairing of defending champion Lyon and FIFA Women’s Player of the Year Lieke Martens of Barcelona was every bit as enticing for fans of the women’s game as Real Madrid vs. PSG on the men’s side. While Lyon won 1-0 to advance 3-1 on aggregate, the victory was not without controversy.

Who’s To Blame For Houston Dash Getting The Shaft A Second Time?

The Houston Dash cannot catch a break. For the second time in the club’s short history, the Dash acquired a star USWNT player who doesn’t want to play for them. After putting up with an unhappy and unproductive Carli Lloyd for a couple seasons, Houston traded for Christen Press, who refused to report to the squad. The 29-year-old forward instead signed with Göteborg FC in Sweden on Monday.

Megan Rapinoe Kicks Off The 2018 NWSL Season With An Unstoppable Free Kick

The sixth season of the National Women’s Soccer League kicked off yesterday with the Seattle Reign hosting the Washington Spirit as one of three matches on opening day. The Reign defeated the Spirit 2-1 at Memorial Stadium in Seattle thanks to goals from USWNT star Megan Rapinoe and new signing Jodie Taylor, an English international.

Rapinoe’s goal came in the 7th minute — a wonderfully struck free kick from over 25 yards out that left Spirit goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe, an offseason acquisition from Orlando, no chance.
