A$AP Rocky And Odell Beckham Play FIFA 19, And There Can Only Be One Winner

FIFA 19 is going on a world tour with stops in New York City, London, Paris, Rio de Janeiro and Dortmund, and the NYC visit featured a matchup between Odell Beckham Jr. (a three-time Pro Bowl receiver with the New York Giants) and Grammy nominated rapper A$AP Rocky.

Beckham, age 26, says he’s been playing since the 2001 version, meaning he’s been going at it since he was nine years old. Rocky, 30, doesn’t say how long he’s been playing FIFA, but it’s obvious that he’s taking quite a beating from the NFL star.

If you’re like me, your FIFA Career Mode has played out in a similar vein for the last decade: (1) Select your favorite Premier League club. (3) Load the bench with Americans and create compelling backstories in your own head about how Jordan Morris is ready to take his chance against Macclesfield Town in the Carabao Cup second round.

Mesut Özil Launches Twitch Streaming Career, Wins Victory Royale With Arsenal Teammate

Back in another life, when I was a sports writer for a daily newspaper, I spent a weekend on holiday at the PAX South gaming convention in San Antonio. At an after-hours party at a nearby bar I met a girl who had just reached a milestone as a Twitch streamer and was quite proud of herself.

When I told her what I did for a living, she responded: “Oh, so I’m kind of like email and you’re kind of like snail mail.”

Visionary Swiss Fans Protest eSports And The Rise Of Killer Machines

I don’t know how we got here.

I mean, there’s no denying the popularity of eSports games like Overwatch, Dota 2 and League of Legends, but a Swiss league match between Young Boys and FC Basel was halted in the 16th minute yesterday while fans threw tennis balls onto the pitch, a PS4 controller (damn, that’s like $50) and unfurled massive banners in protest of eSports . . . things have escalated so quickly.

We Reviewed FIFA 19 Even Though You’re Probably Going To Buy It Regardless Of What We Say

I’ve been playing FIFA for more than two decades — probably longer than many of you have been alive. These days I don’t count the years by birthdays or anniversaries but by FIFA updates. So when I sat down to do this FIFA 19 review, I had a pretty good idea of what I was getting into.
