In what can only be classified as a fitting finale in the storybook of U.S. soccer, the USWNT defeated Mexico 3-0 in the nation’s final match of the Send-Off Series. Tobin Heath, Mal Pugh and Christen Press were on the scoresheet for the U.S., putting the finishing touches on a series of friendly matches in which the defending world champions outscored three opponents by a total score of 11-0.

In case you missed out on the action, the USWNT had itself a scoring fiesta during its 5-0 win in its second-to-last Send-Off Series match against New Zealand on Thursday night. 35,761 fans at Busch Stadium experienced greatness from the entire USWNT, but especially from two well-known veterans: Carli Lloyd and Ali Krieger. 

USWNT Ready For New Zealand In Send-Off Series

The U.S. women’s national team is heading into its final games before entering into the real deal, the 2019 Women’s World Cup.

The U.S. is coming off a 3-0 sweep against South Africa on May 12 in the first of three games in the Send-Off Series. The team will be continuing its series on Thursday at 7p.m. CT at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri, against fellow World Cup opponent New Zealand.

USWNT Blanks South Africa 3-0 To Begin Send-Off Series

The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup is only 25 days away, and the USWNT is showing how prepared it is to defend the title. In its first Send-Off Series match against South Africa on Sunday night in Santa Clara, California, the USWNT struggled to find the back of the net until the 36th minute.

Samantha Mewis took matters into her own hands when she beat a South African defender at the top of the box and put the U.S. on the scoreboard.
