The moment we have all been waiting for has finally arrived. After months of friendly matches, training camps and Send-Off Series games the World Cup favorites are back in action to defend their title. 

The U.S. women’s national team enters the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup with a solid 7-1-2 record thus far this year. Out of the 10 matches the U.S. has played in, eight of them have been against fellow World Cup participants in France. After preparing for the World Cup at the Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre in London, the USWNT's time to shine has finally arrived. 

The U.S. women’s national team’s attempt to win a second straight Women’s World Cup — and fourth overall — will include a second group-stage match against a now-familiar foe. So, when does USWNT play Chile and how can you watch the match?

Following the team’s Women’s World Cup opener against Thailand, the U.S. faces Chile in a second Group F match, which will be followed by a third and final group match against Chile.

The United States women’s national team will be the last team to kick off its Women’s World Cup this summer in France. So, when does the USWNT start the World Cup, how can you watch and what should we expect?

The USWNT begins its quest to repeat as Women’s World Cup champion against Thailand, the final match of the first round of group-stage matches.

In what can only be classified as a fitting finale in the storybook of U.S. soccer, the USWNT defeated Mexico 3-0 in the nation’s final match of the Send-Off Series. Tobin Heath, Mal Pugh and Christen Press were on the scoresheet for the U.S., putting the finishing touches on a series of friendly matches in which the defending world champions outscored three opponents by a total score of 11-0.  

The USWNT is more than ready to compete and defend its World Cup title, so much so that they even made sure to mark their territory. Literally. 

First stop is the hometown of Rose Lavelle: Cincinnati, Ohio. Lavelle has been a crucial part of this World Cup cycle and has been a dynamic and impactful midfielder. Her craftiness and vision on the field helped the U.S. defeat both South Africa and New Zealand in its Send-Off Series matches. 

In case you missed out on the action, the USWNT had itself a scoring fiesta during its 5-0 win in its second-to-last Send-Off Series match against New Zealand on Thursday night. 35,761 fans at Busch Stadium experienced greatness from the entire USWNT, but especially from two well-known veterans: Carli Lloyd and Ali Krieger. 

The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup is only 25 days away, and the USWNT is showing how prepared it is to defend the title. In its first Send-Off Series match against South Africa on Sunday night in Santa Clara, California, the USWNT struggled to find the back of the net until the 36th minute.

Samantha Mewis took matters into her own hands when she beat a South African defender at the top of the box and put the U.S. on the scoreboard.

For the second time in history, three stunning females take over the cover as they show off their hard work, dedication and confidence, including soccer star Alex Morgan.

In March, FIFA confirmed the use of VAR — video assistant referees — for the 2019 Women’s World Cup, something it really had to do after its successful implementation at the 2019 men’s World Cup. 

On Thursday, FIFA named the 15 video assistant referees who will man the booths at this summer’s Women’s World Cup — and we do mean man.
