Transfer Rumors

There is a very real possibility that Manchester United could sign a striker, according to Louis van Gaal. 

Ironically, after a season in which the Red Devils’ strike corp was arguably its most talented set of players, they find themselves with a dearth of midfield options, a bolstered defense, and only one proven senior striker: Wayne Rooney (Apologies to Javier Hernandez).

Many think that the team needs to buy another striker, and van Gaal has not ruled out more spending, although he didn’t say specifically what positions further spending would increase. 

Jasper Cillessen, the number one keeper for AFC Ajax, is the man on the radar for Van Gaal and the Manchester United Red Devils. The revolving door of keeper transfers this summer between Porto, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and AFC Ajax seems to leave many speculating as to which goalkeeper will go where. As of now, according to the Sun, Manchester has given Real Madrid till Monday to complete the deal for keeper de Gea. The Red Devils are set to tour the U.S. this summer and would like a concrete offer from Real.

Jorge Vergara, the owner of Chivas de Guadalajara, has said that he will do all he can financially to make sure that Javier Hernandez comes to Liga MX instead of the MLS, should the Mexican international leave Manchester United. 

Speaking to ESPN Mexico’s Raza Deportivo, Vergara had this to say on the possibility of such move. 

It was a sad day in Germany when Bastian Schweinsteiger announced he would leave Bayern Munich and begin a new journey in the Premier League. But as all good business goes, life moves on. The transfer window is far from being closed, and the trades are going strong in the Premier League with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool already spending upwards of £100 million. Yet, title holders Chelsea have not made any big headlines in recent weeks regarding transfers. 

It appears Robin van Persie is leaving the EPL for a move to Turkish club Fenerbahce. Van Persie's agent, Kees Vos, spent two days in Istanbul with the Turkish club negotiating a fair deal for the Dutch striker.

The most sought after midfielder in the world, Paul Pogba, will not go to Barcelona this summer, according to former Barcelona President and current Barcelona presidential candidate Josep Maria Bartomeu.

"This year we will not sign Pogba because he is not part of our sporting plans,” Bartomeu told Marca. 

Liverpool squeaked by in sixth place at the end of the Premier League season, which secured them the last qualifying spot in the Europa League. Brendan Rodgers has walked a fine line with Liverpool’s Board of Directors of whether or not he will continue to lead the Red’s in the future. Fighting for his job is his number one priority, and with no more Luis Suarez and a limited Daniel Sturridge, Rodgers has a lot of goals to make up for. 

Paul Pogba might be in the Blaugrana in two seasons. 

According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, representatives from Barcelona and Juventus sat down to lunch and hammered out a deal to transfer the 22-year-old midfielder from the Champions League runner-ups to the champs. 

Because Barcelona are under a trensfer ban, the move would take place next summer, Pogba commanding a fee of $112 million.
