Revisiting The18’s awful Premier League 2022-23 predictions — wow how wrong we were

In July 2022 the great minds working at The18 put their heads together and tried to predict how the 2022-23 Premier League season would unfold. Looking back at our EPL predictions 10 months later we got a couple things right and several things very, very wrong.

Our predictions came out in two separate parts. The first prediction article had each of our individual picks for topics like the Golden Boot race, best American, teams relegated and more.

3 burning Ted Lasso questions ahead of the series finale

After Tuesday night's global release of Ted Lasso S3E11 ("Mom City"), we've officially entered stoppage time in the series' arc with only one episode remaining until it's all (supposedly) over for good.

Next week's series finale brings with it a demand for closure on a number of long-running plot lines, and there's still plenty of time for more developments with these final episodes burgeoning in their runtime (episode 11 clocked in at one hour and nine minutes).

Opinion: Cristiano Ronaldo scored a game-winner for Al-Nassr — should we even care?

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the third goal for Al-Nassr on Tuesday to complete a two-goal comeback against third-place Al-Shabab and keep his side in the race for the Saudi Pro League title.

Ronaldo’s goal was solid as he nestled the ball into the side netting after he bodied an Al-Shabab defender who flew like a ragdoll onto the turf.

CR7 received high praise from the soccer-sphere for his goal.

The18’s Premier League manager of the season awards

Hello everyone and welcome to the annual The18 Premier League Manager of the Season Awards. Yes, it’s that time of the year again where all the great and good, the movers and shakers, the winners and losers gather in a large auditorium dressed in their finery and mutter swear words at competitors through fake smiles.

Seattle's struggles and Hell Is Real: 5 takeaways from MLS Matchday 14

Rivalry Week in MLS is a special time. Chaos wrapped in pandemonium served with a side of unpredictability. The best sides find a way to rise above the volatility, to keep their heads when all about them are losing theirs. Rivalry week separates the wheat from the chaff, and MLS Matchday 14 embodied that.

Thiago Almada's must-see free kick and what is FC Cincinnati capable of this season? 5 takeaways from MLS Matchday 13

In a word, forgettable. Following one of the most exciting matchdays of the MLS season, the league’s first foray into midweek play definitely did not live up to the billing, but there were still a few moments that caught our attention. Despite MLS Matchday 13 being promoted as a continuation of Rivalry Week, there were few games that truly fit that description, and it showed both on the field and in the scorelines.

Jesús the savior in Texas and is Atlanta trash? 5 takeaways from MLS Matchday 12

Winning is great, but it’s even better when it’s against a rival. Goals mean more, away games are more demanding and everything is personal. Though the matches count just as much in the table, it's a day the fans circled on their calendars as soon as the schedules dropped. MLS Matchday 12 featured red cards aplenty, late winners and fans who went home filled with an anger that can only be felt after a loss in Rivalry Week.

Best potential XI for USMNT’s Concacaf Nations League semifinal vs. Mexico in one month

The United States men’s national is set to face bitter rival Mexico in a month’s time in the Concacaf Nations League semifinal at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. With a litany of injuries to the team we felt that a potential USMNT starting XI vs Mexico was necessary.

Mexico and the U.S. faced off in a snooze fest with their B-teams in the Continental Clásico in April, but on June 15 the star players should be back on the field.

4K video of Pelé assisting Carlos Alberto at 1970 World Cup has people asking if Brazil were that good

One of the more iconic goals in World Cup history came during the final between Brazil and Italy in 1970. In the 86th minute Pelé assisted Carlos Alberto who lasered the ball into the bottom corner to put the cherry on top of a triumphant 4-1 victory.

As someone who wouldn’t be born until over two decades later, I had only ever seen this goal in shoddy quality on YouTube.
