The ball deflected off the defender and back into the net to send Anfield into raptures.
Football is finally being played at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. While the official Tottenham stadium opening will be Wednesday when Spurs hosts Crystal Palace, the North London club celebrated its new digs with a legends match against Inter Milan on Saturday.

Southampton coach Ralph Hasenhüttl isn’t a particularly old man. At 51, he had just turned 20 when the original NES was released in Europe.

For the first time in four years, one of Chelsea’s biggest stars will return to play at Stamford Bridge. On June 16, Didier Drogba will headline the 2019 Soccer Aid for Unicef, hosted at Stamford Bridge.

After compiling a record of 14 wins, two draws and only three defeats with the caretaker label, Ole Gunnar Solskjær has now been confirmed as Manchester United’s permanent manager on a three-year deal.
Solskjær has overseen a dramatic reversal of form in United’s Premier League campaign. After just seven wins in 17 games under José Mourinho and with a top four finish looking impossible, Solskjær has recorded 10 wins in 13 EPL games to bring the Red Devils up to fifth, only two points back from Arsenal with eight matches remaining.
Although England’s performance against the Czech Republic was thrilling and Scotland’s humiliation to Kazakhstan was funny, there’s not a lot to get excited about in Euro 2020 qualifying as nearly half of the competing nations will ultimately earn a place at the 16th European Championship.
For all of his goal-scoring success in the past couple of years with Manchester City, Raheem Sterling entered this international break with just four goals in 47 international appearances.
Sterling nearly doubled that mark on Friday.
England hosted the Czech Republic in the first match of Euro 2020 qualifying for both countries. Sterling looked right at home, scoring a hat trick to lead the Three Lions to a 5-0 victory.
