Tim Howard defends Christian Pulisic, says Chelsea would’ve kept him if he was Dutch or Italian

Tim Howard reignited the fiery disagreements between Chelsea fans and United States men’s national team supporters over Christian Pulisic’s skill when he spoke on Taylor Twellman’s podcast, “Offside”.

Howard argued that Pulisic was at a disadvantage being an American player in the Premier League and if he were European, he would likely still be playing for Chelsea.

A fantastic save denied Christian Pulisic his third goal of the season as AC Milan defeated Roma 2-1 in Serie A on Friday. The USMNT star played 75 minutes in the Italian capital in a relatively quiet night compared to his first two games.

Pulisic’s best chance of the game came in the 22nd minute. The American winger made a great run to get by his defender and get on the end of a beautiful cross from Theo Hernández.

Pulisic opened the scoring in the 33rd minute. Milan struck on a quick attack with Pulisic slipping the ball through to his former Chelsea teammate Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The Milan midfielder did a great job to get by his defender and then put it on a plate for Pulisic.

Christian Pulisic had a memorable Serie A debut with AC Milan on Monday setting up one goal and scoring one of his own in a 2-0 victory vs. Bologna.

Pulisic’s goal vs. Bologna is arguably one of the best goals in his career. In the 21st minute the USMNT star linked up beautifully with his former Chelsea teammate Olivier Giroud and then rifled a shot from 20 yards out.

Despite three Bologna defenders around him, Pulisic still got his shot off. Bologna’s goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski had no chance saving that one.

AC Milan released their third kit on Thursday and boy oh boy is my wallet about to feel this one. With the likes of Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah on the roster I, along with many other USMNT fans, have become a big Milan supporter.

I wasn’t entirely sure if I wanted to go all out and purchase a Pulisic Milan jersey, but the club might have just forced my hand with this new third kit.
