Carli Lloyd Makes History With Landmark 300th USWNT Appearance

Carli Lloyd made history on Saturday, becoming just the third player to record 300 caps for the USWNT, captaining her side on the landmark day in a friendly against Sweden. Only Kristine Lilly and Christie Rampone have appeared for the U.S. more.

Estados Unidos Vapulea A Argentina Y Se Lleva La Copa SheBelieves

Could Carli Lloyd Catch Kristine Lilly For The Most Unattainable Record In Soccer?

With two more appearances to start 2021, Carli Lloyd reached 296 caps for the U.S. women’s national team, becoming the most-capped active player. Looking spry as ever, the 2015 Women’s World Cup Golden Ball winner is showing no signs of slowing down. The question is, how much longer will she keep playing? And could she possibly challenge Kristine Lilly’s record for most international appearances in soccer history?

Carli Lloyd And Megan Rapinoe Included In Latest USWNT Squad

After a “perfect” 2020 that saw the USWNT win nine out of nine matches — but also miss eight months of action because of the pandemic — Vlatko Andonovski’s side is ready to begin 2021 with a January camp that includes a pair of friendlies against Colombia (Jan. 18 and 22) at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

Carli Lloyd Makes Public Her Plans For Retirement

Carli Lloyd, one of the world’s best footballers of the 2010s, turned 38 this summer. With the Covid-19 pandemic postponing the Olympics, she missed out on a potential curtain-call tournament, one last chance to strive for gold before riding off into the sunset. In March, after the Olympics were postponed, Lloyd announced she would put off retirement to work toward making the 2021 Olympic team.

Now Lloyd has all but confirmed that she will retire after next summer’s Olympics in Tokyo.

These women are rich compared to the Average Joe, but they’re severely underpaid when it comes to the professional sports world.

Carli Lloyd Reveals Favorite Netflix Show To Binge, Plans To Start A Family

Carli Lloyd, like the rest of us, would prefer life would return to normal sooner rather than later. But the two-time Women’s World Cup winner, as she often does, is finding the positive aspects of being forced to shelter in place, with the NWSL season on hold and 2020 Olympics pushed back a year.

Carli Lloyd Pushes Back Retirement For Another Year

As a two-time FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year, two-time World Cup champion and the only player (of either gender) to score the game-winning goal in two separate Olympic gold medal matches, Carli Lloyd has had a legendary football career.

However, her time with the USWNT is nearing an end. Lloyd has appeared in 281 games, scored 113 goals and recorded 52 assists, and it’s clear that her impact on the USWNT and women’s soccer will be remembered for quite some time.
