Things That Preceded Unfortunate Events: Gio Reyna Scores For Dortmund

DORTMUND, Germany — Promoted VfB Stuttgart scored three times in 10 minutes to crush hosts Borussia Dortmund 5-1 in the Bundesliga on Saturday and maintain their unbeaten run on the road this season.

In their best performance of the season under American coach Pellegrino Matarazzo, Stuttgart rode roughshod over the Dortmund defence.

Leipzig Striker To Miss Rest Of Year With Lingering Effects From Covid-19

RB Leipzig striker Hwang Hee-chan will not play any more games this year as he deals with the lingering effects of COVID-19, the Bundesliga club's manager Julian Nagelsmann said on Friday.

Hwang was one of several South Korea players who tested positive for coronavirus during the international break last month when the squad was based in Austria for friendly matches.

The 24-year-old was quarantined at home and Nagelsmann said the club was taking precautions while gradually easing him back to action.

Borussia Dortmund Releases SpongeBob SquarePants Fashion Collaboration

Borussia Dortmund and SpongeBob SquarePants have collaborated on a lifestyle capsule that includes two hoodies and two T-shirts. Why?

But my guess is because both are yellow, Gio Reyna is SpongeBob, Erling Haaland is Patrick, Marco Reus is “MY LEG!” and Robert Lewandowski is Gary.

Stuttgart Attacker Booked For Taking Too Long To Score

Stuttgart attacker Silas Wamangituka was booked for unsporting conduct on Sunday after refusing to convert his open goal opportunity against Werder Bremen in a timely fashion.

The 21-year-old had already given Stuttgart the lead in the 30th-minute from the spot, and he was gifted an opportunity to put the game on ice after a horrible mix-up between Bremen defender Ömer Toprak and keeper Jiří Pavlenka.

Wamangituka gathered possession with the clock reading 90:08, but the ball didn’t strike the back of the net until 90:17 despite the attacker facing an empty goal.

Gio Reyna Doesn’t Always Score, But When He Does They’re Thunderbastards Like This

One could argue Gio Reyna’s shooting isn’t one of his primary attributes. Or you could argue he only pulls out his shooting ability everyone once in a while when he really wants to impress. Either way, the Gio Reyna goal vs Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday was a piledriver of a strike to earn Borussia Dortmund a 1-1 draw.

BVB fell behind early Saturday to a Daichi Kamada goal in the ninth minute. With Erling Haaland still out and midfielder Julian Brandt enlisted as striker, Dortmund couldn’t find an equalizer until the 56th minute.

The Berlin Derby doesn’t have the history or animosity of other famous rivalries, but that might change after a shocking Union Berlin red card vs Hertha Berlin on Friday.

In just the seventh competitive match between the two biggest clubs currently calling Berlin home, Bundesliga newcomer Union took an early lead through Taiwo Awoniyi in the 20th minute. The match changed dramatically three minutes later following this shocking challenge from Robert Andrich.

Here's How Different The World Looked The Last Time Schalke Won A Game

To the surprise of nobody, Schalke lost again on Saturday in a pitiful 4-1 defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach. The defeat extended the club’s winless run in the Bundesliga to 25 games. Tasmania Berlin holds the all-time winless record in the Bundesliga with a 31-game winless streak.
