Meet The Next Great Left-Footer Capable Of Walloping Shots At 100 MPH

When Denmark convenes for a friendly against Kosovo (March 21) and a massive Euro 2020 qualifier against Switzerland in Basel (March 26), it’ll do so without an attacker that many are desperate to finally see at the senior level — 22-year-old FC Copenhagen winger Robert Skov.

Skov is in the midst of his first full season with Copenhagen, and to say he’s been a revelation would be an understatement of the highest order. He’s gone from being a total unknown to currently standing sixth in the European Golden Shoe standings, ahead of the likes of Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah and Edinson Cavani.

Skov has 26 appearances for Copenhagen in Denmark’s Superligaen, and his 23 goals lead the division and have helped his club to the top of the table (he also has six assists). What’s even more remarkable is that eight of these strikes have come from free kicks.

The latest of these dead ball specials came on Sunday against Hobro IK.

Skov’s international profile has skyrocketed of late, especially between Dec. 12 and Feb. 10, when the Danish talent scored 11 goals in four league appearances, including three hat tricks.

Skov is adept at lacing it with either foot, but his left peg is like a cannon. It’s because of this that he’s drawn comparisons with Lukas Podolski, and after watching the highlights, it’s clear that he could probably wallop a shot close to 100 miles per hour as well.

Skov has yet to be capped by Denmark at the senior level, and he’ll have to wait after being injured in Sunday’s match and forced to withdraw from the squad. He’s been replaced by 20-year-old Borussia Dortmund attacker Jacob Bruun Larsen.

According to the rumors, Skov is being closely watched by Tottenham, Watford, Wolves, West Ham, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Atalanta and Bologna.
