Where Will Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Play Next Season?

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is still a Borussia Dortmund player. This despite constant speculation involving PSG, AC Milan, Chelsea and Tianjin Quanjian of the Chinese Super League.

Tianjin Quanjian is said to have offered the Borussia chiefs over 70 million pounds for the striker. But a stay in Europe is the likely preference for a player still in his peak years.

So where does this leave possible European destinations for Auba to test himself at the highest level?

Chelsea need a striker to replace nearly-departed Diego Costa. However, manager Antonio Conte is said to fancy Alvaro Morata for that position instead. Conte and Morata are said to greatly admire and have spoken well of each other previously in the press.

Aubameyang did send a couple Chelsea fans into Instagram overdrive a few days ago, when he posted a photo of himself wearing a blue shirt in front of a jet. Suspicious indeed.

A reunion with Aubameyang and his youth club, the resurgent Bonucci-buying AC Milan, feels like an overly romantic rumor. Maybe, he’ll lead the Rossoneri back to Serie A glory and a spot in the Champions League. Milan mad Scudetto dreams aside, a chance for Auba to light up the San Siro would surely be a tempting proposition for Milan’s ambitious new owners. Milan seem keen to regain for glories with these new signings, so a move for Auba isn’t out of the question.

And what about PSG? Edinson Cavani isn’t quite cutting it on his own and they did lose their Ligue 1 crown for the first time in four years to Monaco last season. The Qatari owners could certainly afford to pay Dortmund their asking price. An Auba and Cavani partnership would presumably improve their Ligue 1 position and probably push them ahead in the Champions League as well. This rumor has persisted all summer.

With a month and a half left in the transfer window Auba’s future is still very much in the air. Anything could happen from here to September. However, there is no doubt that no matter where he does play, he’ll score a lot of goals and get a lot of cool haircuts.
