West Ham have discovered their newest celebrity fan, and it's a doozy. WWE wrestler Triple H (the h's stand for "Hunter Hearst Helmsley") recently declared his loyalty to the Hammers in an interview with ITV.
"West Ham is probably the closest to what we do [with] the passion of their fanbase and their loyalty," Triple H said.
Well then, color us surprised. Maybe he hasn't seen the new stadium yet and still thinks West Ham is a club for the common man.
"That’s the closest to what we do, at WWE we have the the most passionate, loyal fans of all time, but that might be debatable with West Ham."
Yup, still hasn't seen the new stadium.
As a London club, West Ham already have a sizeable list of celebrity fans, including Barack Obama, Katy Perry, Matt Damon, Dave Grohl, Kiera Knightley, John Cleese, Lennox Lewis, Russell Brand and Alfred Hitchcock. I would pay a lot of money to be in the room when these people get together and discuss West Ham soccer.
Triple H also said he thinks Andy Carroll has the potential to be a good wrestler.
"He (Carroll) is tall, likes to play it tough with the opposition and has the right looks with the long hair. He could be interesting," Triple H said.
Um, maybe he's wrong on that one.
