Bicycle kicks don’t come much prettier than Colombia’s game-winner vs. Japan

Colombia defeated Japan 2-1 on Tuesday courtesy of a spectacular game-winning bicycle kick from forward Rafael Borré.

With the scored tied at 1-1 in the 61st minute the Eintracht Frankfurt striker pulled out some incredible skill to give his side the lead. Japan goalkeeper and Illinois native Daniel Schmidt did well to stop an initial Colombian effort, but he couldn’t do anything about Borré’s follow up shot.

Rafael Borré goal vs. Japan

Sheesh.

This is the kind of goal that kids dream about when they go to sleep. The goal will also feel good for Borré who has struggled with Frankfurt this season. He’s made 36 club appearances, 25 as a substitute, and only managed three goals.

The 27-year-old started Frankfurt’s last three games before the international window after usual starter Jesper Lindstrøm suffered an ankle injury. A beautiful bicycle kick like the one he scored on Tuesday might just be the motivation inducer needed to finish the season strong.

Colombia enjoyed a solid trip to Asia for the international window that saw the team come back from 2-0 down to draw Jürgen Klinsmann’s South Korea and then defeat Japan 2-1 four days later.
