Watch A Ligue 2 Player Become The God Of Thunder

Patrik Eler channeled Thor in his team’s Ligue 2 opener on Friday, striking an incredible goal from nearly 40 yards out. The ferocity and speed with which the ball was struck gave the goalkeeper little chance to save the shot, even from such a long distance.

The ball dipped and swerved like a thunderbolt lancing through the sky. The only thing that could slow it down was the net as Eler, a Slovenian striker, scored AS Nancy’s first goal of the season. Nancy, which won Ligue 2 in 2016, was relegated back to Ligue 2 last season.

The goal pulled Nancy even with Orléans, which ultimately won the match 3-1. But all anyone outside of France will remember about this match was Eler’s thunderbolt.
