Sergiño Dest scored PSV’s game-winning goal against Go Ahead Eagles in the Eredivisie on Friday in spectacular fashion. This was his second goal of the season and another sign of his comeback.
Let’s admire the goal first and then talk a little more about Dest’s season.

This goal will definitely be going on the Dest highlight reel. The USMNT defender has people who make highlight edits after each of his games this season.
Dest is only 23 years old but has already had a rollercoaster of a career through his first five years.
Rewind to this time last year and he was essentially banished from AC Milan’s roster. Barcelona had loaned the American defender to the Italian side, and it turned into a nightmare season for Dest.
He started just four games for Milan and then didn’t make a single appearance from February until the end of the season in June.
In the 2020-21 season he was playing alongside Lionel Messi at Barcelona and being a consistent starter. Then it looked like things went off the rails with Milan, now he’s rediscovered himself with PSV.
Still early, but it’s hard to see a scenario where Dest doesn’t make Eredivisie Team of the Season at the end of this year.

Fans will be curious to see his next “DESTination” following the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. He’s currently on loan with PSV from Barcelona and his contract with the Catalonia club ends this summer.
Will Barcelona keep Dest around after his great season with PSV or will he land somewhere else as a free agent?
His performances this season will put him on the radar for some of the bigger clubs in Europe.
