Which team is the hottest in the Bundesliga right now? It’s certainly not Borussia Dortmund, despite a narrow win on Saturday, nor is it Bayern Munich, after a draw saw it lose its spot at the top of the table.
The hottest team in the Bundesliga right now is RB Leipzig. And 20-year-old American midfielder Tyler Adams is a massive reason why.
Adams joined RB Leipzig from New York Red Bulls during the winter transfer window. Since making his debut in a 4-0 win over Fortuna Dusseldorf on Jan. 27, Leipzig has gone unbeaten in all competitions, claiming seven wins and three draws. Adams has gone the full 90 seven times — all wins.
That seventh win came Saturday in a 5-0 rout of Hertha Berlin. Yussuf Poulsen notched a hat trick while Emil Forsberg and Amadou Haidara were also on the score sheet.
At the center of it all, once again, was young Tyler Adams.

Adams was great playing central defense for Ralf Rangnick (making you again question Gregg Berhalter’s decision to play him at right back). He shielded the defense, started the offense and helped RB Leipzig cruise to another win.
In Adams’ eight starts, Leipzig has allowed just one goal, winning seven matches (the one draw came when he was subbed out in the second half), showing how important he is to the defense.
But he’s also growing in importance on offense.
The young American played a remarkable long through ball to Poulsen to set up the third goal of the match, the second Tyler Adams assist of the season.
This assist . @tyler_adams14 continues his rise in Germany.

That’s a 20-year-old American, in his first Bundesliga season, tearing apart a defense with one pass 75 yards from goal. It was reminiscent of the first Tyler Adams assist, when the midfielder played in Poulsen with a pass from near midfield.
What a stud. No wonder there were reportedly a few Premier League scouts on hand to check out the rising star.
It makes you wonder why FOX keeps relegating Bundesliga coverage to FS2 instead of FS1, but then you remember FOX hates soccer and soccer fans.
