Their Main Scorer Was Sent Off. Leicester City Salvaged The Game Anyway

This Sunday started out like every other game for the Foxes. An early goal at the 18-minute mark by Jamie Vardy put Leicester City out in front, 1-0. Business as usual it seemed for this club, but 10 minutes into the second half Vardy was dismissed due to his second booking. And, with a foul by Wes Morgan on Andy Carroll in the penalty area, West Ham tied the game at the 84-minute mark. Only two minutes later, West Ham struck again, taking a 2-1 advantage.

Now, it should be noted that playing from behind is something Leicester City have not been accustomed to this season. The Foxes had only played a total of 47 minutes trailing in their last 22 games.

With the dynamic Vardy out of the game and down a goal late it seemed like maybe this would be too much to overcome for Leicester City, and would result in a big victory for West Ham. But, a costly foul late in extra time gave Leonardo Ulloa a chance to tie the game on a penalty kick, and he capitalized sending the game to a 2-2 tie.

The draw leaves the door open for second-place Tottenham to close the gap Monday against Stoke City, but it was another example of the incredible run that Leicester City seems to be on.

The club was without their best scorer, and had to mentally regroup after two uncharacteristic mistakes later in the match which saw them go from up one to down one in the blink of an eye. However, staring defeat in the face, they found a way to bounce back and salvage the tie. That's what championship-caliber teams do.

Now there is still is a long way to go in this season, and no one should crown this team just yet, but a game like yesterday's shows even through adversity they still found a way to avoid a loss. Little things like that are big for a team trying to finish a historic turnaround season.
