Romelu Lukaku Debut Goal Overshadowed By Inter Teammates' World-Class Finishes

Despite Inter Milan’s new manager Antonio Conte being widely considered a defensive coach, Inter put on an offensive masterclass during its Serie A opener Monday. Its opponent, Lecce, which was just promoted to Serie A this year, was left hanging its heads as Inter cruised to a 4-0 win thanks to some world-class finishing from the Black and Blues.

The first goal came after some build-up play around Lecce’s box. Antonio Candreva crossed the ball across the field to Kwadwo Asamoah, who delicately laid it off to Marcelo Brozovic at the top of the box, who took a touch and curled the ball with his right foot into the top corner of the goal.

The second goal was an act of improvisation from new midfield signing Stefano Sensi.

The diminutive midfielder regained possession after his shot was deflected and then danced past Lecce’s backline until a shooting opportunity presented itself. The 22-year-old technician may not have been Inter’s most exciting signing of the summer, but he was certainly the most dangerous player on the field against Lecce.

Even Inter’s newest signing Romelu Lukaku found himself on the scoresheet, putting away a rebounded save from an overworked Lecce keeper.

However, his goal was quickly overshadowed by Candreva who scored what might end up being the goal of the season when all is said and done, hitting an absolute banger from 30 yards out.

Antonio Conte and Inter Milan look to continue their good form on Sunday against Cagliari.
