Raúl Jiménez is having himself a year with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
In fact, the 27-year-old striker on loan from Benfica is having one of the best seasons for a Mexican in England ever, statistically speaking.
Jiménez scored the opener in Wolves’ 2-1 win over Watford on Saturday, marking his 13th Premier League goal this season.
No. 13 is significant for two reasons: It equals Javier Hernández’s single-season record for a Mexican playing in the Premier League and it sets the record for a Wolverhampton player in a single Premier League season. Jiménez broke the previous Wolves mark set by Steven Fletcher in 2011-12. Additionally, with seven assists, Jiménez became Wolves’ first player to be involved in 20 goals in an EPL campaign.
And Jiménez still has two more games left this season.
Jiménez’s goal was the result of sustained pressure from Wolves, with the 6-3 striker flying to meet a header in the six-yard box to give his side a first-half lead.

With 17 goals in all competitions this season (four in the FA Cup), Jiménez has been a fantastic signing for Wolves. In Portugal, Jiménez never scored more than 12 goals in a season. His personal record is 19 set in 2013-14 with Club América in Liga MX, which earned him a move to Atlético Madrid.
Jiménez has a way to go to catch his compatriot Chicharito in all-time Premier League goals. Hernández owns the record for most goals by a Mexican in the Premier League with 52, 37 of which were scored with Manchester United.
