After last night's loss in the Gold Cup semifinals to Jamaica, we don't know how to feel about Jurgen Klinsmann. So we made a list.
Pro:
Bobby Wood, America's most recent soccer sweetheart, wasn't available for the Gold Cup because his club team wanted him to stay in Germany.
Con:
Klinsmann doesn't have enough pull in Germany to be able to borrow Bobby Wood for a few weeks?
Con:
Could Klinsmann not find anybody better than Aaron Johanssen to play striker?
Pro:
At least he didn't start Wondolowski.
Con:
Only offensive strategies seem to be "hope Michaell Bradley does something" and "send long balls their defensers can easily deal with."
Pro:
Better than kicking the ball directly into own net.
Pro:
Very good at picking starting lineups .
Con:
Not very good at the parts that come after that.
Pro:
Continues to find foreign players who can gain American citizenship and play for the USMNT.
Con:
Continues to not find American-born players who are good at soccer.
Pro:
Jordan Morris might be really good.
Con:
Can't Convince Jordan Morris to leave Stanford and play professional socccer already.
Pro:
Can still make to Confederations Cup.
Con:
Lost to a team called the "Reggae Boyz."
Pro:
Everytime the U.S. does something ridiculous, Mexico does something even more ridiculous to distract everyone.
Con:
Got outcoached by this guy. Sorry, we meant this guy.
Pro:
People in Germany are fond of him.
Con:
German public opinion doesn't count for much in countries that aren't Germany.
Pro:
Still has a great overall record with the USMNT.
Con:
Still the second-best German manager in the Gold Cup.
