Please Everyone, Stop Retiring. Miroslav Is Next.

First Landon, then Drogba, and now Klose. Miroslav Klose has announced he will be retiring from international soccer to focus on his final seasons with club team Lazio. Different from Drogba and Donovan, Klose could not choose to retire from his international career at a better time. He ends on top with a World Cup championship in Brazil, and also with the status as the leading goal-scorer in World Cup history. Let's be honest...it doesn't get any better than that.

Klose shared the same sentiment as the tweet above when he released his statement to the official German FA (DFB) website. He emphasized, “I have also reached goals I set myself personally. Whoever knows me knows that I am very ambitious. I am an attacker, and an attacker’s job is to score goals.” He continued by saying, “For me, there can be no better time to close the international chapter.”

Also, as if we could not build up the German superstar's ego anymore, there is a video that will restore some humanity in soccer. And there's nothing that makes us happier than respect between greats and fair play. Unlike Bayern’s manager Pep Guardiola who did not show the respect necessary after his loss to the MLS All-Stars, here is a video of Miroslav Klose being honest when he scored a goal with his hand. You have to respect that. Congratulations to an amazing career Miroslav!
