Last year Real Madrid and Adidas busted out bright orange away kits and this year they swapped the script and will be wearing bright pink shirts on the road. Now the defending European champions have added a third kit in regards to their title defense of Europe. And it looks like it's something straight out of Game of Thrones.
An all black shirt with a dragon will be donned by Carlo Ancelotti's side this year, only adding to the interesting style sported by the Madrileños this season.
The new kit was made by Japanese designer Yohji Ramamoto who is known for his football designs. The idea behind the kit was to “unify the values of Madridismo focused on its two main elements, greatness and determination.” Adidas went on to say, “both elements are represented by two mythical beasts which originate from Eastern culture and are interlaced on the front of the shirt.”
For those itching to get Khaleesi’s new favorite uniform, you’re going to have to hurry. They are only making 1,500 kits available to the public and 300 of those will be available in a special “dragon’s egg” box. Order your jersey here.
Reactions to the new kits on Twitter have been mixed, although we would speculate that reactions vary dramatically based on the commentor's attitudes towards Real Madrid. Below is a sample of some of the best reactions:
