Mistakes Will Decide Atletico Madrid vs. Bayern Munich

I do not want Atletico Madrid vs. Bayern Munich to be a boring game. I really don't. That would suck, especially after the stinker Manchester City and Real Madrid gave us yesterday.

That said, I'm not getting my hopes up.

One team's strategy is to defend with like eight people in the 18-yard box and wait for the other team to make a mistake so they can counter. The other team passes the ball around the midfield for like 20 minutes straight and waits for the defense to make a mistake. Sounds like fun!

For soccer tactical enthusiasts (fead: nerds) this will be Christmas come early. Whichever conservative, tinkering manager can make the one killer adjustment will probably win. For everyone else, it will be like watching two late 90s Mancester United teams passing the ball sideways against each other.

Both teams are very good and very effective and very efficient, but neither like to play on the front foot.

Maybe I'm wrong. I've been wrong before. I'll be wrong again. maybe both teams (or at least one) will come out guns blazing and we'll have some kind of shootout in which the players actually shoot the ball at the goal with some frequency.

But, with maybe the best defense in Europe playing against a team almost entirely composed of midfielders/defenders who can move into the midfield, it doesn't look good.

It'll still be better than Manchester City-Real Madrid though.
