Lionel Messi got hit in the head by a water bottle and some change after angry Valencia fans couldn’t contain themselves following the club’s 1-0 loss to the Blaugrana on Sunday.
Valencia played Barcelona tough throughout the match and actually had more opportunities then the Catalans, but they could not beat Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo. Luis Suarez thought he had given Barcelona the lead when he buried a deflection in the 69th minute; however, he was wrongly called offside.
But forget about the game itself. Below is the Busquets goal followed by the Messi water bottle debacle.

Messi didn't seem very injured and he protested the events to the referee, but the zebra wouldn’t hear it. He gave the Argentine a yellow card for time-wasting, which Barcelona has already said would be appealed.
Valencia released a statement on their official website stating:
“Valencia CF regret and condemn the isolated incident in the game against FC Barcelona, in which a small, uncapped bottle of water was thrown from the stands at opposition player Lionel Messi...The Club will endeavor to locate the person who threw the bottle, and they will be banned for life from Mestalla. Valencia CF operate a zero tolerance policy on such actions and rigorously enforce all security measures set out by legislation.”
That wasn't all of the drama that happened during the match. Neymar and Nicolás Otamendi spurred some action when Neymar head-tapped Otamendi. Otamendi took a page out of Adryan's playbook and flopped his way to the ground. Seems like these two teams can't stand each other, but unfortunately for us fans, they'll have until April to cool their tempers before they meet again. Either way, Otamendi's flop was a disgrace.
