Bayern Munich suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Augsburg on Saturday, but the Bavarians nearly pulled out a late equalizer from a Manuel Neuer header. Only the goal-line save from the other keeper, Rafal Gikiewicz, kept Augsburg in front in the 95th minute.
Mergim Berisha gave Augsburg the lead in the 59th minute producing an expected massive push from Bayern for an equalizer. Still trailing as the match entered the 95th minute, Neuer, the great German goalkeeper, ran up the pitch for a corner kick. Moments earlier, Neuer headed a corner kick high and wide; this time his effort looked goal bound until Gikiewicz palmed it away with a brilliant save.

What a save, made all the better by Gikiewicz then pushing away a header from Dayot Upemacano as Neuer lurked, though the play was called back for offside as Augsburg held on to the rare win over Bayern.
Here’s the goal from Berisha that beat Neuer on the other end.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga on Saturday, American Gio Reyna had a hockey assist as he helped Borussia Dortmund beat old rival Schalke 1-0.
The winger didn’t start but came on in the 32nd minute for an injured Marco Reus (let’s hope it’s not serious). Reyna started the play with a switch across field for Marius Wolf, who sent in a cross for 17-year-old Youssoufa Moukoko to head home.

Dortmund now sits top of the Bundesliga with 15 points from seven matches, though Union Berlin and Freiburg could both overtake BVB on Sunday. Bayern sat in fourth after its defeat, three points back of Dortmund.
