19-year-old Notre Dame standout signs multi-year contract with PSG women

After two incredible years at Notre Dame, Korbin Albert is taking the next step in her meteoric career: the 19-year-old midfielder just put pen to paper on a deal with Paris Saint-Germain Féminine through 2025.

During her 2021 season, Albert was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team and Top-Drawer Soccer Freshman Best XI Team with 12 goals in 22 games. Her performances earned her a spot on the USWNT's 2022 FIFA U-20 World Cup roster, where Albert started two matches in midfield alongside Portland Thorns phenom Olivia Moultrie.

Albert's sophomore season in 2022 was even better. The midfielder was one of three finalists for the Hermann Trophy after scoring 16 goals and tallying 37 points while leading Notre Dame to the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament. She was named ACC Midfielder of the Year and routinely made highlight reels with bangers from outside the area.

The path to professional ball was a foregone conclusion, and it's not surprising to see Albert forgo her final years of eligibility at Notre Dame to join a PSG side that's battling Lyon for the league title, through to the Coupe de France quarterfinals and at that same stage in the Champions League.

PSG is managed by Gérard Prêcheur, who previously coached Lyon, China's Jiangsu Suning and France's U-20 team.

PSG's next match is against Le Havre on Sunday. On Feb. 10, they'll discover their opponent in the UWCL quarters (Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona or Wolfsburg). Albert could certainly be involved in those matches with the first leg on Mar. 21/22 and the second on Mar. 29/30.

If Albert shines abroad, she could be a wild card for the World Cup roster with the midfield missing Sam Mewis, Julie Ertz and the versatile Catarina Macario.
