The USMNT's World Cup qualification margin for error just got that much smaller, with the news that center back John Brooks would be out for the remainder of qualification. Brooks sustained a thigh injury during a friendly while playing for Wolfsburg in Germany.

The USMNT has four matches left in qualification: at home against Costa Rica, away to Honduras, at home against Panama and away to Trinidad & Tobago. They currently sit third in the hext, in an automatic qualification spot, three points behind Costa Rica and one point ahead of Panama.
