I did not see this coming at all when I went to review the aftermath of Real Madrid’s shocking loss to Wolfsburg in the Champions League quarter-finals, but apparently Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos knocked a tooth out of Wolfsburg full-back Vieirinha’s mouth.

It’s honestly shocking that what initially seemed like a grazing blow could knock a tooth out of someone’s mouth. You just don’t see tooth injuries very often in soccer, and I would have thought that the first one I saw would have been the result of a header gone horribly wrong, or high kick landing in the wrong spot.
Life is full of surprises, I guess.
